As Mark Twain once famously said, “Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated.”

In spite of the current extremely difficult economic times in Taos and in our nation as a whole, the Soundscapes Board of Directors is committed to the proposition that the music shall not die.  Taos is blessed with the presence of several fine chamber music organizations.  Nevertheless, we firmly believe that there is still not nearly enough beautiful music in the world, and that there are many people here in Northern New Mexico who have yet to experience the joy of live chamber music performances.  We will continue to make our most dedicated effort to meeting this need. We are grateful for Taos’ past support of our efforts, and we look forward to a bright future enriched by extraordinary music, new experiences and a vibrant and continuing outreach program.

Taos is fortunate to have an abundance of artists and arts organizations, but all must compete for audiences and support from the same rather small population base.  Nevertheless, just as there can never be too much love, compassion, or beauty in the world, there likewise can never be too much beautiful art or music.  That having been said, Soundscapes is determined, in the spirit of community-wide artistic collaboration, to continue to add its resonant and harmonizing voice to the broad chorus of arts related voices in Taos. 

Although contributions and gifts are essential to the survival of our organization, they are not the only way our friends support us. Many of our local artists donate their stipends. Local businesses provide in-kind donations of various kinds. Individuals volunteer to help with the many activities necessary to our efforts, from helping out at concerts to stuffing envelopes and pasting mailing labels.
