Doris Allen, violinist, was born in New York City. She initiated her study of violin when she was 8 years old at the Juilliard School of Music. She attended Sarah Lawrence College, returned to Julliard for Graduate studies and then received a Fullbright Scholarship to study in London for 2 years. Her professional career has been comprehensive. Before her Fulbright Scholarship in London, England she was a member of the Center for New Music at the University of Iowa, where she received her Masters of Music Degree. She was also a founding member of the Nash Chamber Ensemble, London, England, the Group for Contemporary Music at Columbia University and a member of the Camerata String quartet. Ms. Allen performed as a member of the first violin section of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra for 29 years and has appeared as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic. She has recently become a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico with her husband, the tenor Tim Willson and their champion Border Terriers Shady May and Otto.
