
Hugh Gibson, Co-Artistic Director of Soundscapes, was violist with the New Orleans Philharmonic, the San Antonio Symphony, and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra as well as the North Carolina, Corpus Christi, and San Juan Symphonies. He performed with the Houston Symphony for thirty seasons. He has been on the performing faculties of Rocky Ridge Music Center, Taos School of Music, and the American Institute for Musical Studies at Graz, Austria. He currently performs as principal violist with the Roswell Symphony. A resident of Ranchos de Taos, he is also a trained visual artist whose painting “View from Llano Quemado” was the artwork for the Soundscapes debut concert series. He has exhibited and won awards in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and California.
