Vickie Ford, a Colorado native, began playing the piano at age 4 when her exasperated mother begged the local piano teacher to “take this child and do something with her!”  When she reached the 7th grade, her mother begged again—this time to the music department at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO.  They agreed to let her study with piano professor, Dr. Robert Neill.  She graduated magna cum laude from Adams State College in 1971 with a degree in piano performance.  During college she served as the studio accompanist for voice professor, Dr. Ed Richmond.  She also played flute in the ASC woodwind quintet.  After college she helped her husband run the family potato farm, while giving private piano and flute lessons and accompanying local singers and instrumentalists.  She served on the Board of Trustees for the State Colleges in Colorado and on the governing board for Adams State College.  She retired from the farm in 2006, and enjoys living in Taos with its lively music scene.
